Cairo, Egypt
While they were reloading the sleigh with the presents they had managed to retrieve with the help of the clever little meerkats, Sparky shyly piped up and said, “Santa? Could I make a request, please? I know we’ve already had a proper treat just now with the wonderful safari, but I have a burning desire of my own. I’d love to see the pyramids of Giza. Do you think we could put in a short stop while we’re in Africa? I know it’s a big ask considering our tight delivery schedule, but …”
Santa interrupted him and said “I don’t see why not, Sparky. Again, it’s just too good an opportunity to miss. And surprisingly, we’re still in good time. So, yes, let’s go see the pyramids.”
Sparky could hardly contain himself with excitement as they soared heavenwards again and set a course for the world-famous pyramids of Giza.
They happily parked the sleigh, clambered down and went to view the awe-inspiring constructions. Just a moment later, though, the desert wind got up and sand was quickly whirling around them.
“Oh, no, not a sandstorm!” said Santa.
“Worse yet,” said Sparky, “I can’t see our sleigh anymore. What are we going to do? If this keeps up, we’ll never find it and then we’ll never deliver all the presents. Now I wish I hadn’t asked to come!”
“Calm down, Sparky,” said Santa soothingly. “I think I’ve spotted something that will help us to find our sleigh again. Never fear, Santa is here!” cried Santa and set off in the direction of some hieroglyphics he’d seen hiding between the pyramids.
Sparky hurried after him and said with glee, “Ooh, an Egyptian puzzle. Just the thing for me!”
